    Brief About PM SHRI KV AFS Avadi, Chennai

    PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Air Force Station, Avadi was established in the Defence Sector on
    15th June 1964 in the campus of the Air Force Station. It is situated in the Air Force
    Station area at Avadi, one of the suburbs of Chennai. It is one of the oldest Kendriya
    Vidyalayas, and also one of the biggest with an enrolment of 2117 students from Balvatika-3
    to XII. The Vidyalaya has grown over the years to its present state of glory with the contributions of
    its illustrious Principals and Teachers.
    The Vidyalaya offers Science and Commerce streams in the Senior Secondary section. There are 1 section in Balvatika-3, 4 sections in Classes I
    to X, two sections in Science and one section in Commerce in the Senior Secondary
    Section.
    The Vidyalaya is situated in a lush green 14.9 acre campus which has an ample space for all outdoor
    activities. The Vidyalaya offers facilities for Athletics, Basketball, Cricket, Football, Hockey,
    Kabaddi, Kho-kho and Volleyball.
    The Vidyalaya has an approved staff strength of 79 with 49 permanent teachers. Apart from
    this, the Vidyalaya also has Coaches, Computer Instructors, counsellor and special educator.
    The Vidyalaya is an active participant in all the technology initiatives of the Kendriya
    Vidyalaya Sangathan.
    ICT INFRASTRUCTURE
    The Vidyalaya has 3 computer labs with 113 computers. All are connected to
    internet. There are 20 smart classrooms.
    ATAL Tinkering Lab
    The Vidyalaya has an Atal Tinkering lab sponsored by Govt. of India from the year 2020.The objective of this scheme is to foster curiosity, creativity, and imagination in young minds; and inculcate skills such as design mindset, computational thinking, adaptive learning, physical computing etc.
