Genesis

PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya AFS Avadi, is situated in the Air Force Station area at Avadi, one of the suburbs of Chennai. It is one of the oldest Kendriya Vidyalayas, and also one of the biggest with an enrolment of 2310 students from Classes I to XII. The Vidyalaya has grown over the years to its present state with the contributions of its illustrious Principals and Teachers.
The Vidyalaya offers Science and Commerce streams. There are 4 sections in Classes I to X, 2 sections in Science and one section in Commerce in the Senior Secondary Section.
The Vidyalaya is situated in a 14.9 acre campus which has ample space for all outdoor games. The Vidyalaya offers facilities for Athletics, Basketball, Cricket, Football, Hockey,
Kabaddi, Kho-kho and Volleyball.

The Vidyalaya has approved staff strength of 81 with 48 permanent teachers. Apart from this the Vidyalaya has also Coaches, Computer Instructors and counsellor.
The Vidyalaya is an active participant in all the technology initiatives of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan.

ICT INFRASTRUCTURE
The Vidyalaya has 3 computer labs with 113 computers all are connected to internet. There are 8 smart classrooms.

ATAL Tinkering Lab
The Vidyalaya has Atal Tinkering lab sponsored by Govt. of India from the year 2020.
